NGO gives people with disabilities crutches

People with disabilities in Traditional Authority (T/A) Nkalo in Chiradzulu District have commended Faizan Global Relief Foundation for supporting them with crutches to improve their mobility.

A beneficiary, Simeon Muhasuwa from Kazembe Village in T/A Nkalo, said the crutches will ease his movement struggles, especially when going to the garden or other places.

“Besides, the organisation has also donated food to food-insecure communities, including people with disabilities,” he said.

In his remarks on Monday during the handover of the crutches and relief food at Mombo Primary School in T/A Nkalo, the organisation’s director of public relations and communication Ibrahim Omar Mataya said the donation was part of humanitarian activities during the Islamic holy month

of Ramadan.

He said: “Today we have given out 20 crutches to help improve mobility of people with disabilities. What we want is to empower individuals—not just by building schools or donating food but also providing medical equipment to individuals in need.”

Chiradzulu Midima legislator Jean Mathanga, who is also Minister of Energy and Mining, hailed the organisation for the support.

She said: “We are grateful for this gesture because we have many needy individuals as well as people with disabilities.

“As a member of Parliament, I may not be able to help everyone, but the donation of crutches to those who struggle to walk is commendable.”

Faizan Global Relief Foundation supported at least 1 500 families with food packs that included maize flour, sugar, rice, salt and soya pieces in the district.
